Canada Wood offers a great escape from the town. A beautiful countryside location with excellent walks nearby. In fact, the John Muir Way long distance trail passes by the door. If you’re walking it, do drop in, we’ll be happy to stamp your John Muir Way passport.

There are some good walking and cycling trails around the café. Take a short walk and build an appetite for some good food on your return. You’ll find plenty of free parking, plus a bike hire business that is next door to the café.

The café is located next to one of Scotland’s most significant battlegrounds. The Battle of Falkirk Muir took place on 17th January 1746. For the Jacobite’s Bonnie Prince Charlie were victorious against the Hanoverian army, ultimately capturing Falkirk. Read more on story boards close to the café, or in one of the books about the battle that we sell.

More recent history has seen the change in the local area from heavy industry to tourism. Two of Scotland’s finest examples of modern tourism can be found nearby, they are The Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel.
